Sen. Warren is leading the charge against President Obama's nomination of Antonio Weiss, a former Wall Street investment banker, to fill an important role at the Treasury Department overseeing financial reform. She needs your help to stop him.
Weiss was a key adviser to Burger King on their deal to purchase a Canadian company and duck U.S. taxes -- the same deal that Democracy for America members like you spoke out strongly against just a few months ago. We need to appoint people to the Treasury Department who will take a hard line against Wall Street, rather than someone who is helping big corporations avoid paying their taxes.
Here's what Sen. Warren said in an article at the Huffington Post last week:
"The over-representation of Wall Street banks in senior government positions sends a bad message. It tells people that one -- and only one -- point of view will dominate economic policymaking. It tells people that whatever goes wrong in this economy, the Wall Street banks will be protected first...It's time for the Obama administration to loosen the hold that Wall Street banks have over economic policy-making."
Elizabeth Warren is absolutely right. Will you join DFA and stand with her? Add your name to this petition and tell her fellow Senators to reject Antonio Weiss!
